Auction of the Lowenstein Collection of Modern and Contemporary Art

Written by: Eugene Barilo von Reisberg
Following our move to the Albert Road premises in Melbourne, we undertook a major rehang of the art works.
The new exhibition of art in our Melbourne office has helped us display a portion of our collection in the best manner possible.
However, we were not able to include a number of significant works from our old co-shared St. Kilda Road office in the new installation. So we decided that an auction of these works was the way forward. It will allow us to collect and display new work by the next generation of artists.
Proceeds of the auction will sustain our ongoing support for artists, as well as enabling us to fund scholarships and other philanthropic endeavours in the area of the arts.
Tom Lowenstein has always maintained that neither he nor the company are the owners of the artworks but only their custodians. It is sincerely hoped that following the sale, the artworks will find homes with – and will be appreciated and admired by – a new cross-section of art lovers.
